About us

By us,for us

A grassroots advocacy service standing with Black children with SEND — and the families who love them.

Why we exist

Black children in England are more likely to be excluded from school and less likely to have their special educational needs identified early. Too many families are left to fight a complicated system alone — often while being made to feel like the problem.

Naomi — You Are Not Alone exists to change that. We are advocates who walk beside Black families through every stage of the SEND system: the first conversation with a SENCO, the EHCP application, the annual review, the appeal, the tribunal.

We believe no parent should have to learn education law at midnight just to get their child what they're already entitled to. We bring the knowledge, the paperwork, and the calm — you bring the love and the knowledge of your child.

What we stand on

Family first

Parents are the experts on their own children. We advise and steady — you decide.

Culturally rooted

We understand how race and disability intersect, and we name bias when we see it.

Plain English

No jargon, no gatekeeping. If we can't explain it simply, we haven't done our job.

Free at the point of need

Money should never decide whether a child gets the support they're entitled to.

Founder · SEND Advocate · Educator · Author

An educator and SEND advocate with over 13 years in education, and author of When Needs Are Read as Defiance. She has navigated the SEND system as a parent advocate herself, and her work is guided by one conviction: a child's additional needs should be understood before their behaviour is judged. She helps families understand their rights, feel confident with schools and local authorities, and challenge decisions when their child's needs are not being met.
